Much ado about nothing!

There is a lot being said about with many conspiracy theories as to why apple chose to do so and most of these are to do with commercial aspects of how apple would benefit – mostly by pushing its new air-pod earbuds.

I agree it’s a bold move on the part of apple to pull the plug on the standard headphone jack which had become a standard in some ways – an icon of the music listening audience ever since the days of the Sony Walkman and earlier. But the truth is that wireless speakers and other devices have slowly but surely made its way into your hearts and ears. While bluetooth has become a near standard on any decent set of speakers, that hasn’t been the case for headphones. The choice to remove the wired headphone jack is surely a move in the direction to go wireless eventually. If you internet is wireless, why shouldn’t your music be.

The wireless technology brings many benefits to the iPhone as well as the user in general.

  1. User movements are not restricted by wires.
  2. Wires get damaged and stop working eventually.
  3. A better quality of sound, as the analog part is now removed.
  4. Fewer mechanical parts on the phone.
  5. Creating some additional real estate on the phone that could be used for other things like battery, speakers etc.

Not sure what all the noise is about, as apple is providing a lightning to audio jack converter in the box, so you can stick in your old headphone jack in and use it – anytime. That’s another good reason to keep the critics quiet.

I personally are of the opinion that the old will eventually make way for the new. And apple does lead the way in personal electronics. So don’t be surprised if the other big boys like Samsung, Motorola, HTC et al soon jump on to the bandwagon very soon.

Bottom line, if one is not happy with this change, don’t buy the iPhone7.
