The latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system – iOS 9 has just launched. Aimed at enhancing the overall iOS user experience, Apple’s iOS 9 gives users a range of new features supporting long battery life, advanced security and powerful search. Apple also assured that iOS 9 will produce a smoother performance on the old iOS devices.
–Powerful Siri
Siri is more smarter and faster than ever and can give quick and better response to queries. Siri now understands different regional accents better.
–Proactive assistance
Tracking user behavior, iOS 9 will give you smart suggestions. For example if you are getting a call from an unknown number, iOS 9 will try to find out the contact from your emails; or may be when you plug in your earphones, you will receive suggestion asking you to resume the podcast paused earlier. In some regions it will even show the user nearby areas related to his points of interest like shopping, dining, movies, etc.
–App thinning
With the app thinning feature, apps will consume less space on your iOS device. A very useful feature this will only download those app features that are specific to your device and not the ones compatible for all the iOS devices.
Game developers can now allow users download specific levels only after they have reached it, instead of downloading all the levels during game installation.
–Fast app switching
Double tapping the home button pulls up a new interface, where each app consumes less space on the screen. For the iPad, you will simply have to swipe upwards with four fingers to pull up the new app switcher.
-Battery optimisation
iOS 9 is now equipped with a low-power mode that monitors the battery life and automatically controls data use and alerts other settings to boost the battery life of the device. Apple claims that even if the iPhone is lying face down on the surface, then also the screen will remain switched off.
–Content blockers
iOS 9 will extend its support to content blocking for ads and other elements in Safari browser, thereby, cutting down data use. Also the load times for the web pages will get reduced. Together all these will help in improving the battery life of your iOS device. However, this feature is supported only on iOS devices running 64-bit chips.
–Quick return to apps
The advanced features of Apple’s new OS will let you return quickly to apps. For instance if the user has opened a social media app link from his Mail app, he can quickly come back to Mail simply by tapping the Back to Mail link appearing on the top left. As a result, many iOS apps will not be required to create an in-built browser.
– iCloud Drive
iOS 9 has brought with it a new iCloud Drive where the user can browse the contents of his iCloud Drive. Previously it was only possible to view the iCloud documents from within the apps where they had been created.
–Advanced Spotlight search
The new OS enables Spotlight search to function within apps. Typing anything into the search bar will generate results from within the apps that can support this updated feature.
–Tight security
With Apple replacing the four-digit passcode with a six-digit code, your iOS device is now more safe and secure.
